Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Junior Storage & Virtualization Engineer to join our technical team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the deployment, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of enterprise storage and virtualization infrastructure.

The role involves working with storage systems, SAN/NAS environments, hypervisors, virtual machines, and associated infrastructure to ensure system availability, reliability, and performance.

The candidate will also have opportunities to participate in enterprise IT infrastructure projects involving technologies from Huawei, VMware, Microsoft, and other leading technology vendors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Storage Infrastructure

• Assist in the installation, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise storage systems.

• Support storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and NFS.

• Perform basic storage provisioning, including storage pools, LUN creation, volume mapping, and capacity allocation.

• Monitor storage capacity, performance, health status, and system alerts.

• Assist in troubleshooting storage connectivity, disk failures, and performance-related issues.

• Support storage expansion, firmware upgrades, and preventive maintenance activities under supervision.

2. Virtualization Infrastructure

• Assist in the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of virtualization platforms.

• Support virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Huawei FusionCompute, or equivalent platforms.

• Perform virtual machine provisioning, configuration, migration, and resource allocation.

• Monitor hypervisor hosts, virtual machines, and infrastructure resource utilization.

• Assist in troubleshooting virtualization-related issues, including VM performance, connectivity, and resource availability.

• Support virtual infrastructure maintenance, patching, upgrades, and high-availability configurations.

3. Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for storage and virtualization infrastructure within the candidate's level of competency.

• Investigate and troubleshoot hardware, software, storage connectivity, and virtualization issues.

• Perform initial fault diagnosis, log collection, and root cause investigation.

• Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers or vendor technical support teams.

• Coordinate with internal technical teams, customers, and technology vendors to resolve incidents.

• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

4. Project Implementation & Deployment

• Assist senior engineers in implementing enterprise storage and virtualization solutions.

• Participate in hardware installation, rack mounting, cabling, and initial system configuration.

• Support system integration, testing, commissioning, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Assist in storage migration, VM migration, infrastructure upgrades, and expansion projects.

• Perform implementation activities according to approved technical designs and procedures.

• Provide on-site technical support during project implementation when required.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including installation records, configuration details, and troubleshooting reports.

• Assist in preparing implementation checklists, test reports, and UAT documentation.

• Maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.

• Provide regular updates on assigned tasks, incidents, and project progress.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on working experience in enterprise storage, server virtualization, system administration, or related IT infrastructure support.

• Candidates with experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure environments will have an advantage.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Basic understanding of enterprise storage architecture, including SAN and NAS.

• Familiarity with storage protocols such as iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, or SMB.

• Basic knowledge of RAID, storage pools, LUNs, snapshots, and storage provisioning.

• Hands-on exposure to at least one virtualization platform, such as VMware ESXi/vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V, Huawei FusionCompute, or equivalent.

• Basic understanding of virtual machines, hypervisors, clusters, snapshots, and high availability.

• Familiarity with Windows Server or Linux operating systems.

• Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, and network connectivity troubleshooting.

• Ability to perform basic hardware and software troubleshooting.

Added Advantages

• Experience with Huawei OceanStor, FusionCompute, FusionCube, VMware vSphere, or other enterprise storage and virtualization platforms.

• Exposure to backup and recovery solutions such as Veeam Backup & Replication or Huawei OceanProtect.

• Familiarity with disaster recovery, replication, and business continuity concepts.

• Relevant industry certifications such as Huawei HCIA (Storage/Cloud Computing), VMware VCP, Microsoft, or equivalent.

• Experience participating in data center implementation or infrastructure migration projects.

Gaji: RM 2,800 – RM 3,500 per month
